My name is Sara Hendow, and I am an Atlanta-based artist creating large-scale textured acrylic artwork inspired by the beauty, wonder, and quiet order found in nature.

Born in Iraq, my family moved to the United States when I was three years old. From a young age, I have always been drawn to creativity and self-expression, finding joy in creating and exploring the beauty around me.

For many years, I worked full-time as a nurse, a career rooted in compassion, connection, and caring for others. While nursing has been a meaningful part of my journey, I have always felt a deep pull toward creating. I am now transitioning into a new chapter where I continue working part-time in nursing while dedicating more time to my greatest passion — making art.

My artwork is inspired by the natural world and the sense of peace, presence, and connection we experience when we slow down and reconnect with creation. Through layers of texture, color, and movement, I aim to capture moments of stillness and wonder — creating pieces that bring a little piece of nature into your space and serve as a reminder of beauty, love, and something greater than ourselves.

“I am not painting water. I am painting what water does to light, and what light does to us.”
